This creatively restored former sheep farm dates back to the 18th century and blends seamlessly into the landscape, with its grass roof closely resembling the surrounding grassy meadows. There’s a myriad of activities and adventures for you to try all year round, including trekking, fishing, skiing and horse-riding, and if you’ve timed your stay to perfection, gaze in awe at the majestic display of the Northern Lights as you float in the open-air geothermal pool. At Deplar Farm

  • There are 13 elegant and stylish bedrooms, all en-suite with grand walk-in showers, which can accommodate a total of 28 guests. The large picture windows have black-out blinds for summer guests and there’s a very useful “All Off” switch for you to turn off all lights with one button

  • Geothermal indoor/outdoor pool, heated to 37°C, with swim-up bar –perfect for gazing at the Northern Lights or the midnight sun

  • Yoga studio with floor-to-ceiling windows and a well-equipped gym

  • Bar with billiards, foosball, darts and ping pong table. There’s even a set of binoculars for star gazing or surveying the landscape

  • While in the bar, ask the barman to make you the Artisan, Deplar’s signature drink, created from an Icelandic spirit, lemon juice, sugar syrup and cucumber

  • Custom-made band loft with a range of instruments for budding musicians to enjoy

  • Media room, with wide selection of films, international TV stations, games consoles and a very large screen

  • Sauna and steam room, indoor and outdoor hot tubs

  • Excellent spa with two saltwater flotation tanks and treatment rooms

  • The small team of chefs will take care of all your dining requirements, creating sumptuous dishes to suit your tastes and preferences, making the most of seasonal Icelandic produce. Pescatarians will be in seventh heaven with the local cod, salmon and Arctic char, with meat-eaters wowed by locally reared chicken, lamb and beef, all accompanied by an excellent range of wines.
